What Ceramic Tile Installation Costs in the Shoals (2026 Guide)

Tile is the hardest flooring to price-shop, because two quotes for the "same job" can be far apart and both be honest. The cure is simple: published labor rates, and a straight answer about what adds cost. So here are both — our real 2026 numbers for the Shoals area, and the things that legitimately move a tile quote.

Our Published 2026 Tile Labor Rates

• Standard ceramic tile installation: $3.25 per square foot (labor; material priced separately).
• Backsplashes: glass mosaic at $10 per square foot. Small walls are mostly layout, outlets, and setup — small mosaics carry the higher published rate because they take more time per square foot.

Tile runs higher per foot because every piece is set by hand, leveled, spaced, grouted, and then the install cures on its own schedule before it can carry traffic. It is slower work that lasts decades — that is the trade.

What Moves a Tile Quote Up or Down

• Tile format: big planks and small mosaics both cost more than standard sizes — mosaics because of the sheer piece count, large formats because of leveling and handling. If a quote surprises you, format is usually the reason.
• Tear-out of the old floor: removing existing tile or other flooring is its own line, and it should be quoted as one. Ask for line-by-line pricing so nothing hides inside a per-foot number.
